Instructions

Step 1: Preparing the Chicken

Start by peeling the skin off the chicken. Once the skin is removed, cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces and set them aside.

Step 2: Chopping the Vegetables

Next, chop up your vegetables into small, even pieces. This ensures they cook evenly and blend well with the other ingredients.

Step 3: Sautéing the Vegetables and Chicken

In a large pot, add a bit of oil and heat it over medium heat. Add the chopped vegetables to the pot and sauté for about 2 minutes, just until they start to soften and release their aromas. Then, add the chicken pieces to the pot and sauté for another 2 minutes, allowing the chicken to brown slightly on all sides.

Step 4: Adding Water and Cooking the Chicken

Pour enough water into the pot to cover the chicken and vegetables completely. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 15 minutes. This will cook the chicken through and develop the base of the dish’s flavor.

Step 5: Cooking the Rice

Once the chicken is cooked, add your rice and spices to the pot. Stir everything together to ensure the rice is evenly distributed and submerged in the liquid. Continue to cook on medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the rice is fully cooked and has absorbed the flavors of the dish.

Step 6: Finishing and Serving

Once the rice is tender and the liquid has mostly absorbed, remove the pot from the heat. Allow the dish to rest for a few minutes before serving, letting the flavors meld together. Serve hot and enjoy your flavorful homemade chicken and rice dish!
