Step 1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Step 2. In a medium bowl, mix together the oil, water, salt, and egg. Gradually add the flour, mixing until a dough forms. Knead the dough lightly in the bowl, then transfer it to a flat surface and knead until smooth and the flour is incorporated. Form into a ball and let it rest for 5 minutes.
Step 3. Roll the dough into a rectangle, slightly larger than the pan you are using.
Step 4. In a small bowl, mix 2/3 cup of oil and 1 cup of flour until smooth and creamy. Spread this mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough.
Step 5. Fold the dough in thirds and thirds again, sprinkle flour over it, and let it rest while you prepare the filling. (Note: The dough is beautiful to work with; use a bit more flour if needed to scoop up the spread that may leak out when you fold and knead it again.)
Step 6. in a bowl, mix the grated apples, sugar, cinnamon, and 3 tablespoons of cream of wheat.
Step 7. Divide the dough into two and knead each into a ball. Roll out the first ball for the bottom layer, and make it slightly larger than your pan. Using your rolling pin, roll the dough onto it and then onto the greased pan. Spread the apple filling over the layer.
Step 8. Roll out the second ball into a top layer in the same manner and place over the filling. Tuck in the edges, and poke holes across the surface of the dough.
Step 9. Bake for 30 minutes. Cool, cut, and sprinkle sugar over the top before serving. Enjoy!
