Placinta cu Nuca (Walnut Strudel)

Makes two gorgeous nut rolls perfect for enjoying with a cup of coffee!

Instructions

Step 1. Place flour in a bowl. Make a whole in the middle and add the yeast and warm water. Mix the yeast with some of the surrounding flour. Let the yeast activate (form bubbles) for 10 minutes.

Step 2. Add eggs, sugar, oil, and salt.

Step 3. Mix all ingredients adding warm milk to form dough. Knead for 10 minutes until the dough is soft and pliable. Add melted butter and knead for 5 more minutes.

Step 4. Cover and let rise for 45 minutes to an hour until doubled in size.

Step 5. Prepare the filling by mixing all ingredients together and setting aside in a bowl.

Step 6. Place dough on a floured surface and divide in two parts (or three if you wish to make three smaller rolls).

Step 7. Stretch dough like you would pizza dough and add filling to it.

Step 8. Gently roll strudel from narrowest end forming a long roll.

Step 9. Place strudel in half of a greased cake pan. Repeat process for second half of dough.

Step 10. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes to one hour. Enjoy with coffee.
